In Which the Birds Have to Cross Seven Valleys

At a residency in rural Pennsylvania, I observed the geometric shapes and varied textures created by farm fields on Google Earth as well as in person.

On a fallow cornfield, I created this circular sculpture out of natural and man-made materials found nearby: dirt, stones, ash, gravel, bits of roof shingles, live clover, dry corn cobs, black walnuts, pine needles, and cut grass.
